System Theory
My practice is interdisciplinary and research-led, working across drawing, sculpture, kinetic installations, and computational systems. I am interested in how movement, pattern, and time operate as forms of knowledge, and how cultural systems shape the ways we perceive continuity, order, and change.
I began by working with the body as a data-generating system, using motion tracking of Yogic practices to translate frame-by-frame movement into digital traces and sculptural forms. This enquiry gradually expanded beyond the body into broader questions of repetition, symmetry, and cyclical time. Through projects such as Laya – Kinetics, which explored lunar cycles through kinetic and IoT-based systems, and Fractals of a Deity, which emerged from an intensive visual investigation into Kolam drawing traditions, my work has consistently engaged with non-linear temporal structures.
Kolam, temple architecture, and ritual practices have been central to my thinking—not as symbols, but as rule-based systems where repetition operates across scales and each fragment mirrors the whole. Over time, I have come to recognise these patterns as both inherited and constructed, carrying lineage through generations while also shaping individual modes of regulation and survival. This awareness has led me to question not only how patterns sustain meaning, but how one might consciously step beyond them.
Across materials ranging from paper and steel to light, data, and digital environments, I approach making as a process of inquiry rather than resolution. I am interested in how systems can be inhabited, stressed, and reconfigured, allowing form to shift without losing its internal logic. My practice seeks to create spaces for contemplation—where viewers encounter pattern, time, and structure not as fixed forms to interpret, but as lived conditions that can be sensed, questioned, and transformed
